Consider the medical technology found in this box. I came across it in The Rockefeller Greenhouse, just outside the courtyard where the orange and lime trees grow alongside the many-splendorous Birds of Paradise. I looked at my reflection and the refraction of trees I could see in the glass and thought about how wild and cool it is that this equipment is available, and the stuff of life (like the trees and grass outside) is found in this box. Because it is the marriage of science and technology, medical brains and engineering magic, that make and sustain it (us) all. What I didn't appreciate, though, is the warning on the box, telling me that only trained persons should use the defibrillator..seriously? I hope my rescuer is either trained or doesn't care what it says. I'm not trained, and I'd use it on someone in a heartbeat.

Then clinical laboratory science is the job for you! When I told people at work about this they got a little offended at first, but then realized it was right.
